In Cab Inspection
-
I entered the truck using 3 points of contact.
My seatbelt is not cut torn or frayed it locks and unlocks.
I will now perform a Safe start. (turn key to on position allow gauges to sweep).
My ABS came on and went off. (Foot on clutch and brake) Start Truck
- I’m looking at my gauges they are below 100 psi. I will build up air pressure to between 120/140 psi until I hear a sneeze indicating that my governor cut off valve is working properly.( press accelerator until you hear sneeze once you hear it let go) That was my sneeze at 130 psi indicating that my governor cut off valve is working properly.
-
I will now perform a brake test.( foot on clutch only not the brake!!! First gear. Turn key off, release clutch and turn key to on position. Then push in both valves) After my initial air lost I will time myself for 60 seconds to make sure I do not lose more than 4psi. I’m allowing my gauges to stabilize. ( wait until gauges stop moving) I will stabilize a second time (put your foot on brake and hold it there and allow the gauges to move again do not take foot off of brake during process) My gauges are stable I will now start my clock. (60 seconds keep foot on brake)
- My 60 seconds are up I did not lose more than 4psi. I will now pump my brakes to around 55psi until my low air pressure sound and warning comes on.( pump brakes evenly until you hear warning keep foot on brake) that was warning I will continue pumping down to 45/20psi until both brake valves pop out( Continue pumping brakes until both valves pop out do not touch them at all) both valves are out I will now perform another safe start.(Put truck back in neutral before starting the truck)****During the applied test and both pump down test do not remove foot from Brake****
- I’m looking at my gauges they are below 100psi I will build up air pressure to between 120/140psi until I hear a sneeze around 130psi indicating that my governor cut off valve is works and both tanks are full with air.
- I will now perform a tug test where I will be testing my trailer brakes and fifth wheel connection. ( foot on clutch and brake put truck in first gear push in yellow valve release foot slowly off of clutch until you feel the truck move slightly then push back down on clutch and put truck in neutral and pull valve back out) My trailer did not move indicating that my brakes are properly adjusted and fifth wheel connection is secure. I will now test my tractor brakes ( foot on clutch and brake put truck in first gear push in red valve release clutch slowly until you feel the truck move slightly push back down on clutch put truck in neutral pull red valve out) My truck did not move indicating that my tractor brakes are adjusted properly.
-
I will now test all service brakes by pulling forward 5 miles per hour. ( clutch down foot on brakes truck in first gear pull forward 5 feet 5 mph then stop) My truck did not pull left or right indicating that my brakes are properly adjusted and there are no load shifts and suspension issues. This concludes my brake inspection I will now continue with my visual inspection.
